Aughnacloy House and Rathmena House opened its doors to families of residents in Lurgan and Ballyclare this week, with a garden party, music, dancing, singing and delicious food.

Aughancloy House residents and their families were joined by Paul Greenfield and members of the local YMCA club who enjoyed speaking with residents and their families during the sunny afternoon celebrations.

Meanwhile, at Rathmena House in Ballyclare, residents and family members hosted their own celebrations.  There was even more delicious food, games, dancing and sing-a-longs enjoyed by all.

Aughnacloy House and Rathmena House are part of the 1,500 care homes across the UK participating in Care Home Open Week from 27th June to 3rd July 2022 – aimed at encouraging communities to engage with care home residents and the exceptional professionals who care for them.

The celebration is led by Championing Social Care, a volunteer-led group of leaders from across the social care sector, this year’s event aimed to celebrate the value of social care, and drive recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic amid increasing reliance on the sector and widespread staff shortages.
